It's the Same Old, Same Old
Team Rami ended up on the bottom of the heap this week because his corset gown was pretty much a variation of the 'draped dress' that he usually designs week in and week out. The judges remarked that he drapes very well, but they want to see what else he can do. They also noted that the design wasn't 'dramatic' enough, and it looked 'too normal' to be avant-garde. When Rami tried to say that it was because of the conflict that arouse in his working relationship with Sweet P, they noted that the best design teams aren't those that are exactly alike, but those that can take each other's differences and incorporate them well. They also noted that Sweet P's ready-to-wear design was a really nice 'daytime dress' and was well-made.
Not Fans of the Southern Belle Look
Team Kit was in the bottom for what the judges felt was an 'amateur' showing in both their avant-garde and ready-to-wear pieces. Kit's vision of a 'layered aprons' gown got lost somewhere in the execution because the final product turned out to be a hoop skirt gown with mismatched fabrics that Michael Kors said looked like she 'ripped the bed sheets off' to make it. They compared the dress to what Scarlett O'Hara wore in 'Gone With the Wind' except worse because it looked 'cheap.' Further, they didn't like Ricky's ready-to-wear design of a mini-dress with front pockets made with a flowery print fabric, and found it to be the 'poorest [design].'
Immunity and a TreSemme Ad
Team Christian was declared the winner, and Christian, as team leader, was granted immunity for the next task. In a little clip at the end of the show, we were shown Team Christian's photo shoot for the TreSemme ad, and it looked like a lot of fun. Both Chris and Christian seemed to be having a ball.
Flying Too Low Under the Radar
Team leaders, Kit and Rami, were in the bottom 2. Rami was called to task for blaming his partner when it was his leadership style lead them into trouble, while Kit's design was deemed 'fashion backwards.' In the end, Kit was eliminated, even though this was her first time in the bottom 2. Usually, she passed each challenge in the middle of the pack, and flew pretty much under the radar for much of the show. Perhaps she flew a little too low this time.
