Director Steven Spielberg is partnering with reality TV producer Mark Burnett to produce the new reality show On The Lot-- the search for the next big Hollywood director.
According to Fox, A group of aspiring filmmakers will be brought to Hollywood, where they will produce short films from different genres each week. The contestants will be given access to professional writers, cast, and crew.
After each movie challenge, their films will be critiqued in front of a live audience by well-respected professionals in the movie biz. But viewers at home will decide who stays and who goes by voting. The director with the least amount of viewer votes is eliminated each week.
At the end of the competition, the most talented director will be rewarded a development deal at Dreamworks films.
"On the Lot" is expected to premiere next season.
