Getting the Guy
Twitch and Katee got a Foxtrot from Tony and Melanie. Katee noted that the dance was romantic and that in the end, she gets the boy which prompted Twitch to joke that hes glad Tony and Melanie finally gives Katee a boy because shes been chasing one all season. Set to Michael Bubles Feeling Good the dance was elegant and pretty with a very nice lift in the middle. Mandy thought it was very romantic and so amazing. Mary said that the foxtrot is a gentlemans dance [and Twitch is] one cool gentleman. As for Katee she could only shout Bravo! The judges also remarked on how handsome Twitch looked in his tux, which caused Nigel to make Twitch pretend he was auditioning for James Bond. Nigel found his accent too British. Nigel can pretty much criticize anything cant he? As for the dance, Nigel said that everything that Katee has done has been wonderful to watch. He noted that Twitch was spoiling the choreographers by being so strong because they can put in lifts that they couldnt normally use.
Joshuas Cat Chat
Joshua revealed that he grew up rather poor and to pay for classes, he would do odd chores around the studio. (So hes not completely untrained as Nigel likes to keep pointing out!) He also revealed that he could have become a football or track athlete but opted for dance, which didnt endear him to his coaches. Cat teased him a bit about his tendency to cry, which he took in good stride. His favorite routine was the Samba and he called the experience on the show a blessing. Mandy called him smooth and said he had so much charisma. Mary said that since the first show, [hes] been riding first class [on] the hot tamale train. Nigel said that he has set the standard by which other untrained dancers will be judged on subsequent shows. But hes not untrained Nigel!
Tired Jive
Courtney and Joshua get a Jive routine from Jason. Dancing to The Dirty Boogie from the Brian Selzer Orchestra, their performance showed their exhaustion as it lacked the bounce and sharp kick flicks that a jive routine demands. Mandy said it was really great and that they did an excellent job. Mary talked about how hard learning the jive is because its such a fast dance and she complimented them on being able to pull it off. She said they were bringing it on. Nigel noted that he didnt want to ding them but he couldnt exactly call the routine brilliant because it wasnt technically strong. He did note that they were tired and that this was a tough routine. Still, it was tired dancing and that as dancers they must strive to be better every time.
Scottish Celebratory Dance?
For their group routine, they get a Contemporary number from Mia Michaels who said the dance was about the four of them celebrating their win because in her eyes, they had all won already. Set to Hallelujah from the Vitamin String Quartet, the dance was a bit incomprehensible as they were dressed in tartan kilts and at one point, it looked like they were all skiing, or mimicking motions very similar to skiing. Mandy said she was at loss for words because she found it magical. She loved how tired they all were because thats when dancers can transcend the physicality of the dance. Hmm, seems a little masochistic. Mary noted that they all brought their A-game and that she was proud of [all of them]. Nigel rambled about dancing and how the four of them deserved to be in the finale before he noted that if people were paying to watch them dance, no one, absolutely no one, would complain about [the routine].
