Recap - - Survivor: Cook Islands - - Episode 6

From Amber Foreman

Oct 23 2006

Not a happy camper

After her near vote-off at tribal counsel, Cristina is pissed. Rather than sugarcoating her words to her tribe members or just stapling on a smile, she totally goes off on them.

The Immunity Idol controversy

Caiboi shows once again that he is a bit of a strange man. He insists they bring the immunity idol to the challenge for good luck. Jonathan disagrees adamantly, and I have to agree with him. Bringing the idol to the reward challenge would look like rubbing it in the other tribe’s faces.

Mogli a survivor?

Does Ozzy remind else anyone of Mogli from The Jungle Book? I watched the guy fishing, and he can hold his breath under water for a long time. Not to mention the fact that he is such a quick swimmer, so agile when climbing trees, and he is almost eerily comfortable outdoors.

Anybody hungry?

The rewards challenge is here! This was the most physical challenge I have ever seen on the show as two opposing survivors tried to pull a survivor from their grip on a pole. They then had to drag that survivor across the beach until they crossed the line. The first team to drag three survivors over the line won reward- some yummy lamb, bread, and apple cider.

Candice is a fighter

Wow! The girls proved they had muscle as they made it difficult for opposing survivors to drag them across the beach. We saw Candice fighting with all her might to wriggle free, even managing to regain her grip on the post a couple of times. Another contestant even tried to pull off Flicka’s shorts. In the end, Aitu prevailed proving that once again team unity won out over muscle.

What??? No immunity idol?

Jeff informs the survivors that both tribes will be going to tribal counsel.

Give me one more chance

Cristina begs tribe members to give her one more chance. A viewer cannot help but feel a little bit bad for her. I mean, Adam really lit into her at the beginning of the show telling her how annoying she was. Still, when tribe members assure her they will be giving her one more chance, we cannot help but think, “Yeah right”.

The good old boy

There is a conspiracy brewing. Jonathan previously thought of as the “good old boy” in the tribe has been inspiring mistrust in the other survivors. When Caoboi realizes he is in danger of being voted off his tribe, he hatches a plan he dubs “Voodoo” that intends to force Jonathan to play his immunity idol (the one they think he has when we know the truth is that Brad has it!) I sort of like Jonathan, so I was worried that we might be saying goodbye to him.

More twists

Both tribes had to go to tribal counsel. The twist was that the rewards winners went first then have to sit and feast on their dinner while they watched the losing team’s tribal counsel. Not only did they get the reward of food. They also got the reward of information. Sitting in on a tribe’s tribal counsel would provide insight into the weaknesses of the tribe.

Dinner guest

Aitu votes out Caoboi. It was a bit surprising since I was worried Jonathan would go. Jeff passes out the food and the Aitu tribe members start chowing down as Raro shows up for their tribal counsel. Then, Jeff surprises us by announcing that Aitu gets to invite one of the Raro tribe members to share dinner with them, be immune from tribal counsel, and be a guest at their camp until the next challenge. They choose Nate. In a bit of a surprising twist, the tribe goes ahead and votes out Cristina. Cristina did not spin around and wave goodbye to her tribe members or wish them good look. She looked really angry. Cristina, sweetheart, remember it is just a game, and it appears you have been outplayed!
