Survivor: Micronesia Recap - - Episode Two

From Angela Williams

The Airai tribe (fans) still needs to build a shelter. They haven’t found any food, they don’t have any fire and they all need tans. Time passes, and half of their flint is burned up while they try to light a fire. Apparently, no one watched last season, when Favorite James commented for us viewers at home that you should prepare for survival as soon as you fill out your application. Kathy, Chet and Tracy feel like outsiders, and form their own alliance. Eventually, they get a shelter built that will house the three of them. Kathy, who holds an immunity idol, is already crying about feeling ostracized, the heat, having to make her own shelter, just anything. She’s a crier.

The Malakal tribe is taking advantage of their “camp curve”, as Jonathan calls it. They are stocking up on fish, getting the camp set up nicely, and boiling water. Ozzy admits that he is attracted to Amanda. He interviews that he needs to stay away from her, or the other team members might put a target on his back. Parvoti still follows James around hanging onto his every word, which he just loves. I hope she smells bad.

Back over at Airai, everyone stands around admiring the shelter the lonely threesome have made. Tracy helps the others get their shelter together. Finally, they get the fire started and gather up some clams and are able to boil water. Mikey B is attracted to Mary and she picks up on it. She flirts with him, touching his ticket stub tattoo, and later interviews it’s better to get him on her side early on in the game. Joel notices them, and wonders if they are hooking up, which would separate them from the group. He says that outsiders will certainly be leaving the island first.

A NIGHT OF PASSION

Over at Malakal, the night vision camera zooms in on Amanda and Ozzy, who sped through introductions and ending up taking advantage of the free Survivor condom policy with lightening speed. Ciria gets up and takes a walk, complaining about the “jungle love” that woke her up. She also sees James and Parvoti all cuddled up. She says that after the show, she expects to get a birth announcement from Amanda and a wedding announcement from James. Jonathan gets angry because Ozzy and Amanda were getting busy right in the same shelter where everyone else was sleeping, or trying to. He and Ciria discuss the lovey dovey foursome, and decide some dismantling is in order.

THE CHALLENGE

The winners get immunity, a bamboo fishing boat, and fishing gear. The winners also get to choose one player from each team to go to Exile Island for one night, where they have a chance to find an immunity idol. During play, they have to run across the water over what looks like pillows, climb a wooden tower, grab a hammer, knock a key out of a box as they jump back in the water, grab the water out of the water and then get all five keys back to open up a chest with puzzle pieces. First to complete the puzzle wins. On the Airai team, Chet struggles and they call him back out of the water. Malakal (favs) finally get all the keys, and complete the puzzle to win immunity. Thankfully, the puzzle was a map of Micronesia, which we needed since no one has really said where it actually is…They choose Ciria to go to Exile Island, and from the other tribe they choose Kathy.

EXILE ISLAND

Kathy is glad that she and Ciria will get to be Exhile roomies. No stranger to Exile, Ciria tells her they need to find the idol, and they need to move quickly while they still have daylight. The clues have them swimming back and forth between three islands most of the day to pick up what I see as the same clue each time. At least they got in a good workout.

SOMEONE HAS TO GO

Back over at Malakal, they celebrate their win. Bon Jovi says Chet will probably leave since he wasn’t able to complete the challenge. Over at Airai, Mikey B says the guys should vote for Chet, and the girls should vote for Tracy. He comes up with some scheme that makes sense to him, and Joel says he doesn’t trust him, and thinks he should go. I think Mikey B is this season’s Todd. Joel asks Kathy/Chet/Tracy to help him break up the Mikey B and Mary alliance by sending Mary home. They agree, even though Mikey B thinks everyone is sending Chet home. Kathy returns from Exile Island and raves about her new BFF Ciria. Joel tries to get information about the other tribe, but loyal Kathy tells him she would rather curl up in a fetal position than talk about Ciria. Way to play the game, Kathy. Frustrated, Joel tells Kathy to vote for Mary. Kathy wants to know why, but Joel tells her not to talk, just to vote. Tracy isn’t so sure she can trust Joel, and she pulls Natalie aside to discuss it. Who the heck is Natalie?

TRIBAL COUNCIL

The Airai tribe arrives at council, dips their torches and sit down. Kathy decides not to use her idol. Chet says he was exhausted, so that’s why he couldn’t complete the challenge. Tracy says they are a tribe divided. Natalie (there she goes again!) says there are two shelters, which feels weird. Personally, three shelters wouldn’t bother me. Mary says there are alliances, but she feels secure. Joel says he doesn’t care who goes home. They go up and vote. Mary is voted off. Mikey B is completely caught off guard and not a happy camper. Jeff congratulates them on their first blindside cause Mary never saw it coming. Wow. Tune in next week as the team tries to find out a way to SURVIVE each other.
