MUTINY AT MALAKAL
Well, Joel is gone, and Chet is still around. Jonathan is still limping. James and Parvoti are still friendly, and over at Malakal, Ozzy and Amanda are still swapping island spit. They are now OzManda.
Erik is shocked and appalled that Joel was voted off. He feels betrayed by this new tribe. He says you cannot trust the favorites, and he may have to do something if the playing field has been lowered to lying and trickery. Has he even SEEN this show before?
Tracy and Chet have no regrets. Tracy says that it aint over til the fat lady sings. She tells Erik hes the next threat, so he needs to vote with them (Tracy/Chet) and they need to get one of the favorites to side with them. Enter Amy, who gives Tracy a pep talk about not giving up. Which is uncalled for since Tracy seems to be manipulating everyone pretty well.
Over at Airai, Jonathan tries to make everyone believe he is feeling better, even though his knee is swollen and hes having trouble putting pressure on it. James comments that losing Jonathan would suck right now because hes the guy all the girls listen to, and he cant sway votes like Jonathan can. Eliza sees the team switch as her new chance to stay in the game. She wants to align herself with Jonathan and get rid of Parvoti and James before there is another twist that would reunite them with OzManda.
THE CHALLENGE
The players have to swim out to a platform and collect wooden planks, sticks and rope. They then have 10 minutes to barricade the opposing teams tunnel. After ten minutes, they switch sides, and tear out the blockade to get all of their own members through their tunnel and onto a mat. The winning team will receive a visit from two native Micronesians (right
) who will teach them about fishing and baiting food. Natalie sits out to make the teams even. Jonathan is really starting to limp, and falls during the challenge trying to drag wood to the tunnel. In the end, Airai pulls it off after helping Jonathan make it through the tunnel and onto the mat. They choose Chet to accompany Jason to Exile Island. Before Malakal can go back to camp though, the Survivor: Micronesia Mystery Medic arrives to take a look at Jonathan. She determines that he needs a surgical washout and intravenous antibiotics or hell risk losing his leg to infection. Her recommendation is that he leave the game. Jeff Probst asks if there is a quick fix. She looks at him like hes crazy, and then tells Jonathan that he can stay on the island if he wants to, but the infection has moved into his bloodstream so he needs to make a choice. Hmmm. Try to beat Chet to $1M, or lose a leg. Decisions, decisions. He decides to get the surgery, which probably costs $1 anyway. Hugs and tears abound. Kathys words are particularly touching, about Jonathan being the sweetest man and such an inspiration. She can hardly keep herself composed, and I felt sorry for her until she states shes only known Jonathan three days, which had me on the floor laughing. Jonathan leaves, and I only hope they allow him on next season in their next made up locale.
