The Amazing Race: All-Stars Recap - - Teams Compete in Guam

What happened on the eleventh episode of The Amazing Race: All-Stars?

The Usual Airport Headaches

There was some drama at the airport (scrambling for tickets and position), including the dreaded 'connection curse' that seemed like it would strike Danny/Ozzie, but they managed to make the connection and all teams are on the same flight from China to Guam (with a connection in Japan).

Strong Military Presence

In case you weren't aware that the U.S. Air Force has a base on Guam, you would know it almost immediately as teams had to have military escorts at various points during this leg of the race.

Care Package or Engine Care

The Detour gave teams the choice between assembling a care package that weighed 500 pounds and then participating in air drop exercise which would take at least 30 minutes, or cleaning the flaps and tail of a military plane. The clue made it obvious that the care package task may take the longest to complete (and it did), but cleaning the jet wasn't an easy and quick thing to do either. In fact, with the sergeant supervising the cleaning task being very tough on when teams had done a satisfactory job, completing either task was time-consuming. Frankly, the care package task looked like more fun because all things considered, we'd rather take a ride in a C-10 plane that does a zero-gravity dive than scrub grease and grime from jet planes.

Math Books or Crackers?

Only Charla/Mirna chose the care package task because they wanted to be humanitarians - although technically, what they did wasn't real. The air drop was only a military exercise and we doubt that the care package they assembled will actually be sent out to anyone. At least we hope not, because Mirna seemed to load it up with a lot of math books. And we understand her strategy - books weigh a lot more than crackers, but if we were a family in need, we'd rather have 5 boxes of crackers, then 5 math books. We suppose it's the thought that counts though.

Military Bases Aren't That Easy to Find

A few teams got lost driving to the U.S. naval base, and Danny/Ozzie, in particular, fall way behind when they are unable to locate the military post. Although to Ozzie's credit, he was navigating them in the right direction at one point.

Search and Search and Search. . .and Rescue

The Roadblock required a racer to participate in a search and rescue training exercise whereby the racer would use a GPS device to locate a hidden pilot, who would then program the coordinates to a landing zone, where the racer would call for a helicopter to 'rescue' them. Except for Dustin, everyone struggled with this task, especially Charla who, no matter how many times her military guide would tell her not to do it, would inadvertently press the buttons on her GPS device, thereby throwing it off.

First Again

Dustin/Kandice come in first this leg of the race and won themselves ATVs (all-terrain vehicles).

A Little Riddle

If we tell you which teams made it to the final three, you could probably figure out who was eliminated this leg of the race right? The final three racing for the million dollars are Dustin/Kandice, Eric/Danielle and Charla/Mirna.

Final Chapter

Oh, all right. Danny/Ozzie were eliminated. After getting lost en route to the naval base, it seemed like the air just went out of them, and they lost their 'will to hustle.' Since they were already marked for elimination, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that they would be eliminated. They took their exit pretty well, with Ozzie telling Phil that their stint on the race was but a 'paragraph' (or more accurately two) in what will be written about them, and Danny cutting in and saying they should give the race 'chapters.' Alas, this proved to be the final chapter for them on the race.
