The Amazing Race: All-Stars Recap - - Episode Three

What happened on episode 3?

From Katie Lee

Mar 5 2007

Chillin' in Chile

Teams remained in Chile this leg of the race, going to Porta Mont and the lake district area of Chile.

The Advantages of the Internet

Rob/Amber decided to use the Internet to find and secure seats on the flight to Porta Mont, when it was too late to arrange for tickets at the airport. Other teams, particularly Joyce/Uchenna, soon figured out that this was the best thing to do, as opposed to waiting for ticket counters at the airport to open.

'Don't Talk to My Person!'

Teams that didn't make reservations ahead of time found it hard to get seats on the flights that they wanted. Charla/Mirna and Teri/Ian ended up on a flight that connected in Santiago, but they could only get standby seats on the connecting flight. In Santiago, things get nasty when Mirna and Teri jockeyed for position at the check-in desk, with Teri threatening to call security on Mirna, when she tried to talk to 'her person' behind the counter.

Floundering with Flounder

The Roadblock required a racer to fish out live flounder (with their bare hands) from a tank and move the fish to another tank. Once enough fish had been moved out from the first tank, the racer should be able to read the next clue printed on the bottom of the tank.

'Use Your Boobs!'

Eric shouted this to Danielle as. . .well, we think it was as 'encouragement' since Danielle said that putting her breasts on the fish seemed to 'calm them.' Somehow, we don't think this will be the new hot trend in fishing. At least we hope not.

A Scary World

It looked to us like Charla/Mirna 'kidnapped' a local to help them find their way around as the poor man, looking completely bewildered the entire time, could be seen in the back seat of their car during the second half of the race. At least Mirna had some self-awareness and told him the 'world of Charla and Mirna' was 'scary.' And yet, even with this 'human GPS' they still got lost. Often.

Vertical Limit or River Wild

The Detour gave teams the choice to either do a 40 foot rock climb, or to go white water rafting for 2.5 miles. All teams chose the rafting task.

Overboard!

The only team to have any problem with the white water rafting was Ian/Teri, when Teri was washed off the raft by a particularly big wave. There was a few seconds of panic on Ian's part, but Teri was pulled back on the raft almost immediately. It wasn't as 'dramatic' as the show made it seem, and Teri even deemed the moment, 'exciting.'

On a Roll!

For the third time in a row, Rob/Amber finished the leg in first place. They win themselves a home gym system.

Sloppy, Sloppy, Sloppy!

Quite a few teams ran sloppy races this leg of the race. Joe/Bill missed part of the clue at the bottom of the flounder tank. Dustin/Kandice missed a clue entirely and had to circle back around to retrieve it before they could proceed to the pit stop. David/Mary missed a road sign that clearly showed which way to go to arrive at their destination. And Charla/Mirna, who were in a neck-and-neck race with Joe/Bill to avoid elimination, couldn't find their car keys at one point.

Costly Error

In a race filled with errors, David/Mary's missing the road sign proved to be the costliest error, as they never managed to catch up to the other teams after that, and are eliminated from the race.
