Getting Out is as Hard as Getting In
Teams were told to fly to Warsaw, Poland and given tickets on a flight that would land at 11:25 the next day. They were under no obligation to take those tickets though and most teams chose to try to find earlier flights. Finding the flights proved extremely difficult and more headaches ensued as teams spent hours upon hours at a travel agency trying to find a flight out. Dustin/Kandice lucked out and were the first team out, followed by Joyce/Uchenna, Mirna/Charla, and Danny/Oswald. Eric/Danielle and Joe/Bill opted to use the designated tickets.
No Alliances, Just Joint Ventures
Danny/Ozzie's racing philosophy is to be competitive, while enjoying themselves. They don't mind working with other teams but there are no hard and fast alliances. In trying to get to Poland, they entered a 'joint venture' with Mirna/Charla.
Connection Disconnection
3 teams are derailed from their journeys when they encounter problems with their connecting flights. Joyce/Uchenna are taken off their flight at the last minute, while Joe/Bill and Eric/Danielle, barely missed their connecting flight when their first flight is late in landing. This pushes Joe/Bill and Eric/Danielle even further back - more than 12 hours behind the leaders.
Sometimes We Don't Want to Talk to Them Either
Charla/Mirna encountered a major communication barrier in Poland when it seemed like no one wanted to talk to them. We can't help but understand this feeling a bit - especially when they use those weird 'omni-accents' of theirs.
Chopin or Curie
The Detour required teams to either tune a piano (in tribute to Chopin) or to take an X-ray of a mannequin (in honor of Marie Curie) to find a written clue on the X-rays. Most teams chose the piano tuning task, and some struggled. Charla/Mirna, in particular, ended up switching to the X-ray task because they couldn't perform the piano tuning task well enough.
Still A Threat
Dustin/Kandice, who have been running a rather sloppy race at times, proved that they are still a threat in the race when they finished the leg first, and win themselves a trip to Puerto Rico.
Still Stuck
Even as teams are checking in with Phil, Joe/Bill and Eric/Danielle are still waiting for the connecting flight that will take them to Poland.
Inquiring Minds Want to Know
Given the huge time discrepancy that is building between the last two teams and the leaders, we have wondered - what exactly do people like Phil and the locals who are judging the tasks do during the hours and hours in takes for teams to arrive? Phil, in particular, looked like he wasn't having much fun having to stay awake (or be awoken) at odd hours just to check teams in.
Ending, Start
Eric/Danielle and Joe/Bill finally arrive in Poland but before they do so, producers decided to start the next leg of the race given the more than 12 hours time discrepancy between them and Dustin/Kandice. So just as one leg is finally ending, another began.
Safe, For Now
Eric/Danielle managed to edge out Joe/Bill in the race to the pit stop, but as luck would have it, it is a non-elimination leg of the race. You know the drill. Joe/Bill are now 'marked for elimination.'
Somber Stop
Teams are instructed to take a charter bus to the infamous concentration camp, Auschwitz-Birkenbau, where they walk along the railroad tracks and take a moment to remember the atrocities committed there.
Coffee to Help the Stress
Cracks began to show in Eric/Danielle's relationship as they bickered about whether one of them could use their money to get a cup of coffee. Danielle also seemed to be taking herself out of the race, possibly fed up with how hard it's been just getting flights in and out of countries. Of course, this didn't go over too well with Eric.
