Here's Looking At You, Kid
After some jockeying at the airport, with three teams taking different connecting flights, the final four teams arrive in Casablancas, to catch a connecting flight to their ultimate destination - Morocco.
Map Skills
Single moms, Lyn/Karlyn, spend their time wisely while waiting for their connecting flight by purchasing a map and figuring out their route to the clue in Morocco. While the other teams hire cabs to follow, stop to ask for directions and corral locals into helping them, Lyn/Karlyn find the clue with relative ease and place themselves in first - at least temporarily.
The Charm of It
All the teams must choose a good luck charm at an antiques store in Morocco, which they must present at the pit stop later.
Run To Yield
The Yield's first appearance in the race has the teams literally running for it, as they are 'bunched' outside Atlas Studios in Morocco (used to film movies like Cleopatra and Gladiator) until it opens in the morning. Models, Tyler/James, get there first and choose not to yield anyone. Dating couple, Rob/Kimberly get there seconds later and also choose not to yield another team. Beauty queens, Dustin/Kandice, outrun Lyn/Karlyn and choose to yield the single moms, which is kind of ironic, since Lyn/Karlyn were gleefully planning to yield the beauty queens when they had been (very briefly) in first place.
Are You Not Entertained?
This week's Roadblock was particularly entertaining, requiring racers to ride gladiator chariots and pull down two colored flags. The show even threw in a stunt chariot crash for the viewers' benefit. All the racers complete it without any difficulty and everyone looked like they had a blast completing the task.
'Everytime!'
Rob, earlier in the race, mentioned that the race has taught him how to breathe and calm down more, which would come in handy, when en route to the Detour clue, their car gets a flat. While not quite 'every time' like Rob exclaimed, this would mark the second time in a row that Rob/Kimberly have had major car trouble.
The Equivalent of Being Lapped
While Rob/Kimberly try to get some help in changing their flat, team after team, including Lyn/Karlyn, pass them, retrieve the Detour clue and then pass them again. This would be like getting lapped in a car race, wouldn't it?
Pots or Olives?
The Detour gives teams the choice of making (or 'throwing') two clay pots or pressing 70+ pounds of olives. All the teams choose to press olives, which would prove very troublesome for one team, since each of the Detour task only has 3 work stations, and it is on a 'first come, first served' basis.
Critical Navigational Error
Dustin/Kandice miss the turn to the Detour, driving themselves pass it, which allows the other teams, including Rob/Kimberly, to get to the olive press task first. When Dustin/Kandice finally arrive, they are forced to wait until one of the other teams complete the task before they can take over that work station.
'Like Roaches'
Despite being yielded, Lyn/Karlyn manage to catch up, and finish the leg in second place. Karlyn compared them to roaches, saying they 'just won't die.'
Sloppy Finish. . .
. . .but they'll take it. Tyler/James, reach the pit stop first, but realize they had forgotten their good luck charm in the car, forcing them to run back for it. Lyn/Karlyn nearly overtake them on the way back to the pit stop mat, but Tyler/James manage to outrun them and finish first, winning themselves Sprint Treos, with a free year of service.
'We're Playing Hardcore'
Which is how Dustin/Kandice describe their racing thus far, but that navigational error really cost them, and they check in last at the pit stop. Fortunately for them, this leg is another non-elimination leg of the race. Dustin/Kandice are marked for elimination and must finish first in the next leg, or they will incur a 30 minute penalty.
Tomatoes!
We don't usually mention the previews but this one was rather awesome. One of the tasks apparently requires the racers to dig through a large pile of tomatoes. . .while locals pelt them with it. Kimberly, from the previews, didn't take that well.
