The Amazing Race Recap - - Season 12, Episode 6

From Katie Lee, for About.com

Dec 11 2007

Heading to Croatia

Specifically, Dubrovnik.

Sheeps Scrambling

Once again, due to departing during the wee hours of the morning, most teams ended up waiting for ticketing offices to open at the airport. There was the usual jockeying for position, with the jockeying becoming frantic at some points. Vyxsin, racing with her goth boyfriend Kynt, remarked at one point that some teams were acting like 'sheep' and just following other teams around, as opposed to making and committing to a decision.

TAR Relationship Barometer

We always take pause when a team professes that they are using the race as a yardstick on the health and vitality of their relationship. 'The Amazing Race' may show a team what they might need to work on in their relationship (more often than not, it's better communication between the parties), but can it really be an accurate gauge of a relationship? How well will anyone get along with their partner after a few weeks of racing around the world with killer fatigue nipping at their heels? Still, two teams confessed that their progress (or lack thereof) in the race is a measure of how well their relationship is - father/daughter duo, Ronald/Christina and adulterous dating duo, Nathan/Jennifer.

Mini-Alliance

Ronald/Christina managed to make reservations by phone for a seat on Polish air, and shared this information with brother/sister team, Azaria/Hendekea, who Christina explained, were the only team she and her father trusted. However, Christina’s tip to Azaria/Hendekea didn’t seem to help them much.

Class is Important

Azaria/Hendekea managed to get seats on the second flight to Dubrovnik, but at the last minute, discovered a crucial error. Their tickets had been booked in business class, which violates one of the race's cardinal rules - that all flights must be booked in economy class. They raced back to the ticketing office, but it's to no avail. They missed the flight and ended up having to settle for seats on a much later flight.

First is Not Always Best

Dating couple, TK/Rachel and grandfather/grandson duo, Donald/Nicolas, were on the very first flight out of Vilnius, but due to plane delays, ended up missing their connecting flight. After scrambling to find new flights to Dubrovnik, they ended up arriving in Croatia well behind those on the second flight, and wound up racing just to avoid elimination.

Stonemasonry as a Jigsaw Puzzle

The Roadblock required a racer to find a stone among hundreds of similar stones that would fit within gaps in a wall that was being rebuilt around the Port of St. Lawrence in Dubrovnik.
