Reward with a Twist
The final four wannabes are surprised at the mansion by Trump and Don, Jr. where it's warm fuzzies all around. Trump congratulated them all, declaring that there are 'no losers' (which is funny considering he just spent 12 weeks calling each and every single one of them a loser on a regular basis). He revealed that he had a surprise for them - sending them to a cocktail party to meet the past 5 'winners' of the show (although it looked to us that only 4 showed up - the first Apprentice, Bill Rancic, appeared MIA). After some hobnobbing and getting pretty useless 'insider tips,' the final four were told that they had 30 seconds to choose 4 former wannabes to return to help them on their final task.
Say Who?
James chose Angela (and Stefani chose Aaron) to help them on their final task. We're not sure about picking Angela since she never worked with them before, but she seemed reasonably competent so that wasn't a huge surprise. Nicole chose Tim - also not a huge surprise. Frank's choice, however, had us scratching our heads. He picked Surya, the person he butted heads with the most while on Arrow.
Most Uncomfortable Pep Talk Ever!
Frank and Surya had the most awkward 'let's do it for the team!' talk we've witnessed so far. But they seemed to agree to disagree and work together to win the final task.
And We Thought We Had Been Spared. . .
. . .from any further 'Ticole' showmancing with Tim's much-deserved firing. Alas, with Tim's return (courtesy of Nicole), we were once more subjected to the tinkly music of their lukewarm 'we-kinda-like-each-other-unless-he-gets-in-my-way-in-which-case-I'll-cut-him!'. . .something or the other. Please, we beg of you, stop the madness!
Remember Renuzit?
The air freshener brand is the featured product placement this week. Teams are tasked to create a 60 second commercial featuring the brand, which was then premiered to an audience at an AMC Theater.
Synergy, and Not
James/Stefani continued to work well together, incorporating Aaron/Angela into the mix rather seamlessly. While Frank/Nicole continued to butt heads. And of course, we had to endure more footage of 'Ticole's' 'greatest-showmance-that-shouldn't-have-happened' and Frank's disapproval of said showmance.
Not Exactly Boston Legal or Grey's Anatomy
James/Stefani came up with the concept of having a man be put on trial by his wife for having a poker party (and then covering it up with Renuzit), while Frank/Nicole's commercial was about a businesswoman who used Renuzit air freshener to help her injured son feel better while in the hospital.
Perfectionism = Creativity?
James insisted on shooting the commercial over and over until he got the 'perfect' shot, which caused them to run behind schedule and missed getting all the needed footage, despite Stefani's best efforts to time-manage him. James defended his actions saying that Stefani didn't quite understand what it meant to be 'creative.' It seemed to us that Stefani was doing the same thing he was - being detail-oriented - but in a more efficient and effective manner.
Bicker, Bicker, Yawn, Yawn
It's no surprise that Frank/Nicole argued during the task - especially during the editing process when Nicole took charge and Frank wanted to 'share' some of his ideas on editing. It was pretty much like how theyve been arguing all along.
Still No Surprise
When James/Stefani and Frank/Nicole met up again, they each told the other what their ideas were and shocker of shockers, neither liked the other's ideas. Nicole found the courtroom idea 'boring' while James thought the hospital idea was in poor taste.
Why Were They Brought Back?
Aside from the brief, funny-awkward scene between Frank and Surya, the returning previously-fired wannabes didn't really seem to add much to the show. Trump asked their opinion in the Boardroom but they didn't really say anything that we didn't already know or see ourselves. And they weren't prominently featured during the task either - they were like any other wannabe on any other task.
