When is "The Contender" on?:

The new NBC reality show The Contender will premiere on Monday, March 7th at 9:30 pm EST. However, this airing of the show is considered a preview. There will also be a second preview of the show airing on Thursday, March 9 at 10 pm EST. The show will then settle into its regular time -- Sundays at 7pm EST on NBC.

Who are the boxers competing on "The Contender"?:

16 aspiring boxers from all over the country were chosen to compete on The Contender this season. They are Anthony Bonsante, Jesse Brinkley, Brent Cooper, Juan De La Rosa, Miguel Espino, Jeff Fraza, Joey Gilbert, Alfonso Gomez, Ahmed Kaddour, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Jimmy Lang, Peter Manfredo, Sergio Mora, Jonathan Reid, Tarick Salmaci, Ishe Smith and Najai Turpin.

Did the show contribute to the suicide of one of its boxers?:

Sadly, boxer Najai Turpin committed suicide only weeks before the show was scheduled to air. According to his family, Turpin had personal problems that were unrelated to the show.

What role does Sylvester Stallone play in all of this?:

Sylvester Stallone is one of the shows executive producers. Joined by boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard, Stallone will also serve as host and boxing mentor to the fighters.

Each week, the boxers must compete in various challenges. At the end of the show, two boxers fight and the loser goes home.
