The Mole Recap

Season Five, Episode Three

From

Jun 18 2008
Last week we saw Liz (age 60) leave the game. Did you think she was The Mole? Me either. Way too obvious. Got to give it up to her for trying though. This week we open with Paul still running his mouth. Now he’s talking about Nicole’s threat to kill him, which the entire world knows was just an empty threat, but he’s going to play it for all it’s worth. Nicole just calmly says that Paul is going down. Ali interviews that she thinks Nicole is nuts. Mark, Clay, and Bobby discuss their coalition, which we never actually saw them discuss before. This is one of the reasons this show is so confusing. Bobby says he trusts Mark and Clay more than anyone else. When did they bond? Clay says he only trusts himself. Smart man.

FIRST MISSION

The players meet Jon at a fruit stand. Behind him is a steel luge. The name of the game is Fruit of the Luge. They are asked to split into two groups: Can’t Trust, and Trust Blindly. Then one person from each group is paired with one person from the other, and they will ride the luge together. The Can’t Trust person will be blindfolded and ride in front. The Trust Blindly person will be in the back calling out the order of pictures of fruit as they ride downhill at breakneck speed. Then at the end, the front runner, the Can’t Trust person, who was blindfolded, must put actual fruit on the table in the order the Trust Blindly person had called out during the slide. The catch is no one can speak after they reach the finish line.

Bobby is paired with Clay, his “coalition” partner. Bobby calls an avocado a pear. In the end, Clay realizes there are no pears on the table and uses the avocado anyhow, getting more points. Is Bobby trying to sabotage the game? Or did Clay already know that there was an avocado in the last slot because he’s The Mole? Hmm… Doesn’t matter because Clay and Bobby are disqualified for talking past the finish line anyhow. Craig and Victoria easily get all seven fruits in order, but their answers are also disqualified because they kept repeating the order of the fruit after their time ended. Did they do that on purpose? Seems like sabotage to me…Nicole is partnered with Alex, and she opens with two green apples. There is only one green apple, but of course, Alex hears TWO green apples and gets it wrong. Did Nicole do that on purpose? Overall, instead of a potential $50K, only $26K is added to the pot for a total of $89K. Now Clay and Mark are suspicious of their boy Bobby being The Mole.
