A Brief History of The Show:
When teen idols Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey decided to tie the knot in 2002, there were plenty of reasons to object. Some said Jessica, then 21, was too young. Others thought it would be a bad career move for the then B-list stars. They were wrong!
Nick and Jessica's marriage led to the "The Newlyweds," an MTV reality show that documents their first years of marriage. The show was an instant hit, thanks to Jessica's hilarious airhead act. (Or maybe it's not an act.)
In one episode, Jessica asked Nick if Chicken of the Sea tuna was actually chicken. That comment alone became one of the most talked-about moments in reality tv history.
The show turned Nick and Jessica and Nick into superstars. Now the couple is on the covers of magazines, Jessica's album sales have taken off, and the pair stars in their own ABC variety show. Life has certainly changed for these newlyweds.
