Onward to Beijing!
Bianca, Saleisha, Jenah and Chantal remain in the competition. When they arrive back at the penthouse after Heather’s elimination, they see “Heather Mail” on the table. Heather has left a very touching letter addressing all of the remaining ladies saying that she went into the competition hoping to make friends, but she feels that she made family. Everyone is touched, except Bianca, who interviews that the letter doesn’t make any difference to her. Later, the girls board a flight for Beijing. Once they arrive, they are given a quick tour by a guy named Kevin.Back on the bus, Jenah starts doubting herself into a migraine headache. Oh wait minute, I got the headache, she just stressed herself out whining about missing home and being in the bottom two. Chantal talks about how she was destined to be a model and feels like it’s her time. Bianca interviews that Chantal is just too perky all the time for her own good.
They arrive at a lovely garden, and are greeted by Twiggy and Miss J, who arrive via foot carriers (or whatever they are called…). They are taken to a stage where they see four performers, dressed in very different traditional dresses. They represent the four beauties: Diaochan, Xi Shu, Yang Guifei and Wang Xhaojun, and their dress represents their personalities. Back at the new house, which has breathtaking views of Beijing, the Tyra mail arrives with the four dresses from the performance. Each girl takes a dress for herself. They are given 1500 yuan ($200) to take the dress, go shopping and modernize/accessorize to make the dress their own while still keeping with the traditional representation. The shopping basically goes off without a hitch, with one exception: Bianca decides to go across the street from the mall to see if she has missed any good stores. She doesn’t find anything, but on her way back sees Jenah, and tells her to go across the street “because there is so much stuff over there.” Jenah goes, and then realizes she’s been duped. Taking the high road, she doesn’t say anything to Bianca, but she interviews that she isn’t there to feed into pettiness and moves on. Continuing to burn bridges, Bianca interviews that there are no friends in the competition; only competitors.
On the runway, Ann Shoket, Editor and Chief of Seventeen Magazine, is the judge for the competition. The ladies strut their stuff in their made-over dresses. I must say that Bianca did a very nice renovation, adding flowers instead of pins or stitching to change the length of the dress. However, she was told her strut was too hip-hop. Saleisha does a great job, but is told to loosen up a bit. Chantal: great. Jenah, nice alteration on the dress and nice walk. She wins the challenge, with the prize being a Chinese couture dress made especially for her. She can choose a friend to get one also, and she chooses Jenah. She also wins a private runway lesson from Miss J. The ladies leave for their fitting and the dresses are beautiful. During their session, Miss J tells Jenah not to whip her head so much on the runway. Jenah says that “she” gave her great advice. She did mean Miss J, right? Isn’t she a he? Well, back at the house, Jenah again starts breaking down about being homesick and dreaming that her boyfriend left her. Thankfully, we get a commercial break with Jaslene. Back in two minutes.
