IT’S DOMINIQUE’S WORLD…
Dominique needs a humility pill. Seriously. In the limo after the last elimination, as the other girls congratulate Whitney on the praises she got for a good week, Dominique rolls her eyes and interviews that Whitney is probably intimidated by her because she is the one to beat. She said that she (Dom) doesn’t view Whitney as a winner or see where she’ll have a future on the runway. And the judges care what Dominique thinks, right? The Tyra Mail says, “If you don’t make it here, you won’t make it anywhere.” No, Ol’ Blue Eyes wasn’t cued in, it’s just a saying. Like the rest of America (and the models), I was thinking Broadway. Nope. They just meant New York. Where they already are.
IT’S GO-SEE TIME!
The ladies gather at the Elite Agency where Director of Scouting, Karen Lee, tells them they will divide into two groups and go on Go See’s. Being the poor models that they are, they have to walk, so instead of springing for cab fare, the network springs for cell phones with GPS navigation devices. Seems to me they didn’t save too much on that one, but who cares. The two teams are Whitney, Dominique, Claire and Stacey-Ann; and then Kat (f/k/a Katarzyna), Fatima, Anya and Lauren. Claire is lacksidaisical on the runway and designer Pamela Roland feels that Whitney is too large for the runway in a size 10. She prefers to book size 2’s for the runway. Even though she put Whitney in a size 10 and she rocked it. Way to send a message to teenagers all over America, Pam. To make matters even worse, even though Whitney handled the news with absolute professionalism, Ms. Roland told her the bad news within earshot of Dominique, who obviously loved it. Over at Shoshanna’s studio (you know, Jerry Seinfeld’s ex…), Whitney has much better luck because that designer likes to showcase all body types. Good boost for Whitney’s confidence. Heck, good boost for mine too since I’m bigger than Whitney, although not by much. I’m going to check into Shoshanna’s collection. What a loss for Pamela Roland… The last Go See was bland, but they all did well. Luckily, Stacy-Ann saves her group at all three Go See’s with her perfect walk and bubbly demeanor. The other group of ladies didn’t fare so well. First of all, they had Lauren. Since she referred to herself as Lurch from the Adams Family, I don’t have to. But you get the picture. She didn’t walk as fast as she usually does, but she still leaned over just enough to seem like she was going to fall. Anya seemed to be chasing her nose and Fatima was actually called out for being too thin at a size ‘0’. Well damn. How does this business work? I’m thinking there should be a happy medium between the size 0 and the size 10. How about a shout out for size 12? Anyone?
Because of Stacy-Ann, Team #1 wins the challenge, and they get to participate in a summer photo shoot for Seventeen Magazine.
WHO TOOK MY COFFEE?
Of course there has to be some drama every week. This time, it’s Lauren and Fatima. Apparently, Lauren wanted to make a cup of coffee, but the coffee pot had a teeny, weenie amount of coffee left in it, so she poured it out and started a fresh pot. In walks Fatima, asking who poured her coffee out. Lauren says there was barely any in there and refuses to admit to any wrongdoing. Fatima wants an apology. Nice, quiet, dorky Lurch/Lauren launches into a tirade complete with expletives and third fingers. And THAT was this week’s drama. Whew!PHOTO SHOOT
The girls arrive at the shoot and see J. Manuel on a conveyor belt looking robotic. He explains to them that they need to step outside of their comfort zones this week and pose without any props. This means they will be lying on a piece of clear Mylar, in water, sans hairdos and makeup. The photographer will get the pictures from underneath, so they need to be creative. First up is Claire, who belly flops into the water and gives herself a major headache. She needs to take a moment to get it together, so Dominique goes next, and does a good job, which she remembers to tell all of us at home. Whitney does a great job too. Claire makes another attempt, but doesn’t connect well with the camera from any angle. Lauren looked like a fish dead in the water. Fatima did a pretty good job. Kat was amazing. The rest weren’t that memorable, but they weren’t bad either.Back at the house, Dominique decides to let everyone know that this was her best photo shoot because she is tailor-made for challenges that require creativity. She then says that “the girl that didn’t pull this off is going home.” I am soooooo ready for HER to go home. But that’s just my opinion.
